This formwork was used to make a concrete road barrier. The road barrier was designed to create a smooth entry for heavy haulage mining trucks before they enter the weigh bridge.

Tip: Before cutting the services pipes into the formwork, use a laser level to check the RL of the pipe trench. If the pipes are in a trench which is too low or too high, it can be difficult or even impossible to cast the pipes into the formwork at the correct RL.

If the pipes are in fact at the wrong RL, and engineers are unable to approve a new depth, then the trench will have to be fixed.

There is no need however to check the RL of the pipe trench if the pipes are not already in the trench and all you have to do is cast some short pipes which will be joined up later.
